Vision of Anawim Spaces
Anawim (pronounced ann-a-weem) is a Hebrew word from the Old Testament which describes the ones who remained faithful to God in times of difficulty. These humble people became known as the anawim or the “faithful remnant.” This term is used frequently in the Bible, especially the Psalms, and is the basis for Jesus’ statement “Blessed are the poor.”
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. … those who hope in the Lord (the Anawim) will inherit the land. Psalm 37: 3,9
One of the trademarks of this population was their work ethic and the commitment they showed in developing their craft. Skilled workers and artisans were central to the creation of temples, cities, and homes and were a cornerstone of the culture and infrastructure of the Hebrew people in Biblical times. The craftsmen coming out of this chosen remnant were known for their integrity and skill, and their word meant that they were going to complete a project, and complete it well.
It is in this tradition of artistry, community and character that Anawim Spaces builds its foundation. Our goal is to create a space for living to happen. We don’t want to simply finish a job, but to help create a home. This means doing what we say, being people you can trust around your family, and using craftsmanship that brings the vision for your home improvement project to life.
